NUIG Reellife science competition 2015
This month we entered into the 'ReelLIFE Science' Competition run by NUIG. We had to choose a science theme to base our video on. We chose 'Science in Space' as we thought this would be a fun and interesting topic to both learn about and gather information on for our video. Firstly we researched the solar system - there were so many interesting and unusual facts it was hard to narrow down the information we wanted to put on the video! Every planet is just so different. We constructed and painted a model of the solar system using cardboard for the base and bags of rice covered in balloons for the various planets. Next we each received lines to learn for our part in the video, some of us were planets and others were 'dust devils' or moons or robots.. we even had an Elsa fairy in it! We brought in clothes to match the colour of our planets and we wore charts also as costumes. We then began rehearsals for the video. We also made up our own song about the solar system to the tune of 'Uptown Funk'. Our 'Science in Space' video can viewed be copying and pasting the link below
. We hope you enjoy watching! :)
Today we explored the water cycle, how it operates and how we depend on it for clean water. We examined some of the factors which influence it and what we can do to protect it. To observe how it functions in a fun way we made "Gardens in Jars". The water in our jars will be used over and over again. We hope you enjoy our photos.
Here the girls can be seen making their own fairy doors using modelling clay. It was a lot of fun. Each door was as unique as the fairies which will use them. When they have dried we will paint and decorate them!!
Here the girls can be seen painting and decorating their fairy doors. A very big thank you to Eimear's Dad for taking the time to make such lovely doors! We really appreciate it!!
Today the weather was so nice we had our Music lesson in the field. Hopefully we get more days like this before the holidays!
