Mr. griffin's team sports

Runners from 3rd/4th class and 5th/6th competed in the annual county championships in Crokes G.A.A pitch, Thurles. Well done to all the girls who took part. A team from 3rd/4th class girls finished second place overall and took home a hard-earned silver medal. We had a strong showing from the girls in the 5th/6th class team, many of whom will be under-age to compete again next year. Well done to all the girls who took part in running practises throughout September and October; we had a huge turnout and hope for the same again next year. Thanks to Ms. Ryan for coming to Crokes G.A.A with us on the day.

The 6th class girls’ football team took part in a 7-a-side blitz in the Ragg, Thurles on the 7th October. The girls had been training hard in the weeks leading up to the competition and have shown massive improvement in their basic skills of the game since we first started the team last year. We played three games in total on the day against teams from different parts of Tipperary. We had a very competitive game against our neighbours, Ballinahinch, and hope to play them again later in the year. Well done to all the girls who took part – they’ve shown a great attitude to training and willingness to improve. Thanks to Ms. Keating for coming with us on the day.

1916 Celebrations

In September members from the Defence forces visited our scool and presented us with the National Flag for 1916 celebrations next year. Our school band played music and we all sang songs.
